2. IdeasWIN RECOMMENDS
-----------------------------------------------------------
You know, when it comes time for YOU to put up a Homepage or
web site of any kind there is something we all need. Ninety
percent of the time when you want to do that you create your
masterpiece on your PC and then require a way to get it from
there UP onto the web. The program that does that is called
FTP.
There are many FTP Programs out there. Most of the 'full
featured' FTP Programs will cost you $30-$75 or so. You know
me, I WILL NOT buy what I can get for free! But I require
quality for my business operations. There is only one FREE
program that fits the bill. It's called Smart FTP and you
can download it at: http://www.smartftp.com/ Try it, you're
going to like it.

Whatever You Think - You're Right
There is a quote going around that is used so often that we
are actually getting tired of it. That is one of the funny
things that happens in American (and perhaps in other)
culture. There will be this weighty statement. When you hear
it the first two or three times you kind of sit back and
say, "Wo."
Then suddenly everybody is saying it and it is in
commercials and everywhere. And now, you are SICK of it. The
terrible thing about this is that the statement is still
just as 'heavy' as it ever was.
The item I have been thinking on recently that fits that
bill is, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." I'm sorry
that I can't credit the author, but I only know it
originally as the slogan of the United Negro College Fund.
My feeling about this quote is a particular sadness at it's
over-use.
Why? Because it was not around long enough before it's being
mentally overlooked for us to really think it through. Yes a
mind that is not allowed it's full expression is a waste. So
now, let's look deeper intellectually. Is the only mind that
goes to waste the one that doesn't go to college?
Does schooling even have anything to do with wasted minds?
Not a lick. What makes me say that? Among other things, one
line from the famous Calvin Coolidge quote, "Nothing in the
world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not;
nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The
slogan 'Press On' had solved and always will solve the
problems of the human race."
So then what can cause the wasting of a mind? I am not so
brazen as to say there is one primary cause. BUT, I will
make this statement without apology. Among all the things
that create a huge squandering of human potential this one
item is responsible for the most. What is it? The simple
belief that we are unable to move beyond our circumstances.
I wish that there was a clear one line explanation of it.
You could say it is the attitude that you can't succeed. Or
the belief that people cannot change. These things all touch
on it. The simplest statement may be this, "The belief that
you can't."
Whatever it is that you believe - that life is positive or
negative, it doesn't matter. Events will prove you right.
Everything that happens around you will, in your vision,
prove you right. We've all HEARD it before. We just have not
taken it to heart personally. If you think you can, you can.
If you think you can't, you can't.
Most people who are wasting their minds are busy living out
the 'average' life. They don't achieve anything great
because they simply don't think they can. The roadblocks of
life, whatever they happen to be for you, will affirm your
belief that....Yeah, life is GREAT or yeah, life is lousy.
We are Eagles hunching down in the dirt with the chickens.
Never knowing that we can fly, because we never tried. Why
don't people try? All around us we see others who don't and
think that is the normal way. Sometimes we see someone try
and fail and we use that as our justification to sit in the
dirt.
The truth is, we were made to win. God made us that way. As
a parting thought let me recommend a book with a title that
probably kept it off the best seller list. It is "God Wants
You To Be Rich" by Paul Zane Pilzer. It's an eye opener and
you can get it at Amazon for $10.40 at this link.

form/103-5536178-6000603
If the above 2 lines is not all one link, copy it ALL with
NO breaks or spaces into your browser address window.
Till next time. Good luck and God Bless.

5. Guest Article
-----------------------------------------------------------
Have you ever known of someone who sets an example you can
learn from, emulate, and utilize for the rest of your life?
Such a person is my Dad.
Dad's ability isn't only finding the good in everyone, but
also verbalizing it. He's mastered building people both
directly and to others. Most people gossip. Dad finds and
speaks the good. When he must correct, it's always with tact
and kindness.
Most people relate to others the bad spoken of them,
creating conflict. Dad always relates the good someone said
about them, bringing people closer together.
Have you ever heard husbands, when speaking to others, make
unkind remarks about their wives? It's one of those "macho"
things. Sure, they're "only kidding," but words matter.
Examples, good and bad, are set, especially for children.
Dad ALWAYS speaks of Mom in the most complimentary, glowing
terms. As does she of him. They began poor and built a
successful business. Although Dad was the one in the public
eye and Mom more comfortable behind the scenes, Dad always
made sure everyone knew who he considered to be the true
driving force behind the business.
My favorite "Dad story" took place when I was 12. We were
having carpet installed in our home. The crew boss was one
of those stereotypical beer- guzzlin', hard-livin' guys, who
would have probably belonged to Ralph Kramden's Raccoon
Lodge from the old Honeymooner's TV show (nothing wrong with
that - just painting a picture:-)).
For lunch, my folks bought pizza for the crew. Dad went to
talk with the boss about the job. I was around the corner
listening.
The boss said, "This is an expensive job. Women will really
spend your money, won't they?"
Dad responded, "Well, I'll tell you, when they were right
there with you before you had any money, it's a pleasure to
do anything for them you possibly can."
This wasn't the answer he expected. He was looking for
negative talk about wives which, to him, was natural. He
tried again, "But, gee, they'll really play off that and
spend all they can, won't they?"
Dad replied, as I knew he would, "Hey, when they're the
reason you're successful, you want them to do the things
they enjoy. There's no greater pleasure." Strike two.
The crew boss tried one more time, "And they'll take that as
far as they can, huh?" Dad responded, "She's the best thing
that ever happened to me. I'd do anything to make her
happy."
I was trying not to laugh. I knew he wanted Dad to give in
just a little bit and say, "Yeah, I guess that's true." But
I knew that wouldn't happen... not in a million years!
Finally, the boss gave up. Maybe he learned something about
respecting one's spouse. Maybe not. But it taught a young
boy a lot about the power of respect and edification.
Mom and Dad recently celebrated their 43rd wedding
anniversary. They still hold hands, and are more in love
than ever. Would there be any doubt?
By the way, I have plenty of "Mom stories" I could share as
well. I was definitely blessed in the "parental unit"
department. :-0 (Happy Mother's Day again, Mom . . . I love
you!!!!!)
I'm glad to have you with us. Have an awesome WINNING
WITHOUT INTIMIDATION week! (keep scrolling down for more
