and it consumes too much time. Effective this Issue....any
e-mail that bounces (non-delivery) will be listed in the
following Issue in this section. If I don't get an e-mail in
response, they will be DELETED before the NEXT Issue. This
may seem harsh, but I haven't devised a better method.

THIS WEEK THOSE MEMBERS ABOUT TO BE DELETED ARE:

2. IdeasWIN RECOMMENDS
-----------------------------------------------------------

I'm always trying out new programs that help your computer
run better (or so they say). Rarely have I found them to be
of genuine help. As a matter of fact, many of them cause
conflicts or crash the whole system! Others turn out to be
useful but are really spyware. Those you must use at your
own discretion. Here is one that I like. I have run it on my
system for over a month without problems. In addition to
that - it does what the ad copy says, without spying.

BigFix is a utility that fixes bugs and viruses before they
create problems. BigFix is designed for early detection of
configuration conflicts, bugs, or viruses in your computer.
It then provides quick, automated solutions for dealing with
problems before they bother you. Recent updates have
included an improved diagnostic engine, a new help system
and tutorial, and faster synchronization with sites.
You can download it here:
http://www.bigfix.com/website/community.html

Check it out! You're gonna like it!

4. Today's Feature Article
-----------------------------------------------------------

Where Are Your Loyalties?

I just finished reading an article in the online Washington
Post about Loyalty. It was a good piece (link to follow) but
it struck me that like so much in today's media - it had
nothing good to say.

Sure, sure, I know that Good News is No News, BUT.

More than anything, this feature spoke about the lack of
loyalty today. The author, Ms. Roxanne Roberts talked a lot
about how people no longer view loyalty as anything but for
suckers.

Okay, all the stats are no doubt accurate. We all know that
you can prove anything with statistics that you want to. Do
I disagree with what Ms. Roberts is saying? Yes & No. What I
really disagree with are the conclusions drawn.

Let me state it another way. Society as a whole may appear
less loyal. Yet individuals remain unchanged. As a matter of
fact, much of American (all I feel able to comment on)
society is fiercely loyal. What has changed then?

First, the amount and kind of media coverage. We live in an
age where TV, movies and news are all focused on a
relatively small part of overall society. That part (the
beautiful people, the jet set, the oft photographed
glamorous) lives in a way that is so far apart from the norm
as to be called radical. This lifestyle is then promoted as
acceptable and in fact the 'true' norm. Sometimes it almost
appears that our culture is being forcibly "bent" in that
direction.

Secondly, what has genuinely changed is where the loyalties
lie. When my children where first job hunting as teens I
told them what I believe to be "The Corporate Reality." That
is, YOU must be loyal to the company but the COMPANY can not
afford to be loyal to you. This has not changed. It is this
very truism that has caused so many to start their own small
business. Better to be your own boss and perhaps only mildly
successful than to have the bucks & lifestyle AT THEIR
DISCRETION OR WHIM.

Well, let me get down off my soapbox long enough to share
some personal observations.

Yes, 4 out of 10 marriages end in divorce. But that means 6
make it! And what I have seen in those is a strong renewal
of loyalty to each other BECAUSE of the scary percentages. I
see people becoming aware that it takes significant struggle
to make it work.

My wife and I have been married 33 years. Were we always
100% loyal in our thoughts and/or actions to each other? No.
That is not what it takes. It takes being loyal to an idea.
For us it was the idea that we had made a personal
commitment to be bound together forever. That is the loyalty
I see. Some call it stubbornness - and that is really it.
We, and others that make it are just too obstinate to give
up.

Look around at families. There is a NEW loyalty of fathers
being involved with their children more.

Look at the number of people who have stopped being loyal to
a JOB (Just Over Broke - Jackass Of the Boss) and are VERY
loyal to their own business. The commitment did not just up
and stop - it switched to another focus.

A lot is made of the fact that fans, players, and even teams
are no longer loyal. Face it, we are only talking about
games here, not life. But for the players it is their life.
And they can only be as loyal as the teams are. The teams
are loyal and have always been loyal to only one thing...the
bottom line. That became true the minute the "game" became a
business.

Are these switched loyalties nothing more than pure
selfishness? Is it all about me-me? For some. But that is
not new. For most the loyalties seem to be well placed.
There is a renewed strength in core values because of the
very attacks they come under.

There is a continuing faith in the IDEA of America amid the
doubt and disgrace felt & observed regarding our government.
There is a new feeling that the political governing system
is NOT the country. So people feel comfortable showing
fealty and having questions at the same time.

Yes Roxanne, there is still loyalty among people. It is no
longer blindfolded and being led. It is strong and has eyes
wide open and is better for it.

If you only look at the negative side some virtues & values
seem rather tarnished. But even the most ugly statistics
have a positive side - when you are willing to look for it.

"Treating Yourself With Respect"
Written By Darren Roberts

An important part of our personal development is the view
we have of our self. In fact, this is extremely important.
You need to like who you are now and have at least a
similar vision of respect for yourself as you take your
chosen path.

No one can take too many steps towards their goals, dreams
and aspirations without liking the person they currently
are. A lot of this revolves around honesty.

You probably wouldn't go into the local newsagent with the
view to shoplift your favorite magazine or newspaper. It
goes against your values and standards. It is also illegal
with severe repercussions. One view of success I recently
read and strictly adhere to is "you can do anything you
like as long as you don't hurt anybody else". What an
excellent analogy! In this example, shoplifting would hurt
the newsagent proprietors, as you would be doing the wrong
thing by them (and more than likely, yourself too).

Similarly, you must feel comfortable using today as your
starting point to attack your life plan. Everyone needs a
starting point and today is the first day of the rest of
your life. Respect can be almost equated to esteem. To
have respect for something or someone means you hold a
special regard for their talents and/or abilities. This
special regard reflects your very own values and
standards. It also shares what you believe in and, in
part, what you see or would like to see in yourself.

Quite often, we see traits in others we think the world
of, but don't really give it a second thought that we
could possess these very traits our self. Unfortunately,
many can only see these good points in others. They either
fail to look at what they have themselves or what they can
do to acquire these traits they have the utmost respect
for.

For example, when I first went into telephone sales a
number of years ago, my team leader/boss at the time
possessed incredible talents on the telephone. The job
involved cold calling the Marketing Directors of various
companies throughout Europe selling advertising space to
different industries.

His power of persuasion was magic. His enthusiasm was
electric. His sincerity sung through his sales pitch with
bells on. On top of all this he had a firm belief in what
he was selling and stood behind it 100%. This ensured
customer satisfaction was delivered as he promised it
would be. His talents have made him a rather wealthy man.

I respect him incredibly. I tuned in to his methods. I
listened to him, gradually learning his techniques. I used
them and developed them to better suit my style. As I did
this, I began succeeding at the same tasks he was already
doing. Hey, everything is easy... once you know how!

Had I not been of the belief that I could do any of it and
simply asked him to close my deals for me, I would never
have succeeded. To develop your abilities you need to have
faith in yourself; a belief that you can is a necessity.
You also need to have as much respect for yourself as you
do for your mentor. This goes back to what we said
earlier, "You must like who you are today".

You must look in the mirror and be proud. If you are
combing your hair one morning, take a moment to stare at
yourself. Doing this should create a moment of honesty.
You may briefly feel uncomfortable. Deal with it and look
further. What do you think? Is this person cool? Does this
person repulse you? Does this person have what it takes to
deliver on large commitments to you?

This has everything to do with self-confidence. It is
beyond the scope of this report to delve deeply into this
aspect, as it is noteworthy of an entire book in itself.
It may be something I can put together for you in the
future. Self-confidence affects every one of us and if you
can't look at yourself and be proud, then you are the
person you are hurting. It will obstruct your growth and
hold you back. Negative self-image must be overcome to
succeed.

You are where you are today due to your previous
decisions. Concentrate on the positives - develop them
further. Minimize the negatives - they are killers! You
deserve respect! You have read this far! You know how
important it really is! Those people, you don't respect,
are those that you will have little to do with.

Since you'll be spending a lot of time with yourself, it
makes good sense to respect this person. It's all about
knowing and understanding who and what you are. We have
already mentioned how much this has to do with honesty.
It's about being very honest with yourself. You will find
a proportional link between honesty and self-respect.

We must all wage an intense, lifelong battle against the
constant downward pull. If we relax, the bugs and weeds of
negativity will move into the garden and take away
everything of value.
