1. Let's Get Started!
-----------------------------------------------------------

As some of you know from personal communication with me -
this is a labor of love. Because of that, when someone
leaves our membership....I ask them why. A recent response
to that was "I left because I am sick of empty promises from
various people who collect money & never send it back. I
wasted my one year & thousands of $ in credit card debts. I
do not wish to hear anymore."

Now I know this was not directed at me. I promote several
products & programs but I don't charge for the e-zine or
membership. Also I don't promote ANYTHING that doesn't offer
full money back, and never will. After all, that is what I
demand, so why offer anything I would not accept.

Still, this letter bothered me. How many people have this
feeling about the Internet, business or even life in
general? To this thought I dedicate this issue.

And now....Let's Get Started!

-----------------------------------------------------------
2. IdeasWIN RECOMMENDS
-----------------------------------------------------------

Have you been looking for a way to express your creativity
on your computer screen? And did you find that most of the
graphics programs out there required a killer learning
curve? Then we REALLY have a lot in common. Not only did I
want it for me, but I wanted something fun & simple enough
that my grandsons of 3 and 5 could play with it too.

Well I found it! And you're bound to love it as much as I
do. It's called Zip Art for Windows. It is a small download,
and is both simple AND fun. You can get it at:
http://home.clara.net/praskovi/text/zippage.html

Check it out! You're gonna like it!

3. In The Spotlight
-----------------------------------------------------------

There aren't that many real bargains on the web when it
comes to the subject of Internet Marketing. I have found one
that is staggering!

Larry Dotson has been around long enough so most 'netters'
know the name. Well, he has really done it! His site offers
thousands of pages of training and tips. Not to mention
dozens of e-books and articles to download. In addition
there is reprint rights to several pieces that could turn a
tidy profit.

Is it free? no, but right now.....LIFETEME MEMBERSHIP is
being offered for $11.95. And that is not a misprint. Get
all the details and sign up at:

An Internet Casualty?

If you listen to some people - the Internet has ruined their
lives. I am not sure that I understand that. Here is the
kind of comment I mean.

"I left because I am sick of empty promises from
various people who collect money & never send it back. I
wasted my one year & thousands of $ in credit card debts. I
do not wish to hear anymore."

What is the Internet? I see it as nothing more than a
collection of information, a storehouse for data. Some of
the info is reference, some is statistics, there are many
opinions and also many advertisements.

How is it that there can be victims of data? Even false data
does not create victims. It creates believers and non-
believers, 'suckers' and those who take the time to study &
verify.

When I was in high-school, back when the dinosaurs roamed
the Earth, we were taught how to research things. People
actually took the time to seek out original sources. It is
amazing the falsehoods that are propagated today that would
be squashed if a few folks would simply take the time to
check before they passed things on. Without the details,
allow me to give you an example of some of what happens. I
was reading a book recently on a controversial topic (good
fun!). When I wanted more data about a reference made, I
checked the footnote. Upon looking it up I was taken to
another book. After seeking out that secondary book I
discovered the author had quoted HIMSELF from an earlier
work that was unsubstantiated!

Do you believe everything that you read? If an ad is two
pages long does that make the "product" a better buy than
one with a small ad? With the resources of the Internet and
the Usenet (Newsgroups) it is possible to find details about
almost anything INCLUDING much of what is sold on the Web.

Do you buy everything that you see on QVC or the Shopping
Channel or late nite Infomorcials or advertised in the
Sunday Newspaper? Of course not! If you did, would the
Infomercial be to blame for your being broke? Hardly.

We live in a world of many temptations. Those temptations
are not the cause of our downfall. Our unguarded action on
them is.

I urge you to study and evaluate need verses cost in ALL
purchases. Know where the money to buy with is coming from
BEFORE you say yes. Don't EVER use credit to purchase
anything unless you have the money to pay the bill as soon
as it arrives. Buying on credit and paying interest is
destroying families. Personal bankruptcy is at epidemic
rates in the USA. Too many of us are doing things based on
the "if come" money that never arrives. And remember that
the USA government has created a 3 day 'change your mind'
rule that allows you to do just that. As a final thought,
you should not purchase anything that does not have a strong
guarantee, period.

Let's face it. Anything that promises to make money "easy"
or "no effort" or "no investment of time or money" at the
least needs a whole lot of checking into.

What we need is a little "common sense." "Common sense
should tell us that reading is the ultimate weapon-
destroying ignorance, poverty and despair before they can
destroy us." Jim Trelease. "Common sense is not so common."
Voltaire. Let us all become uncommon and as we change, so
changes the world around us.

Till next time. Good luck and God Bless.

What do You Want, and How Will You Get It?
By Dr Philip E. Humbert

Some of the most basic questions in life are to decide
what we want, and whether or not we are willing to pay the
price to achieve it.

In all of nature, it seems that only humans get to ask and
answer these questions. Only we can create our own
future, and only we must do it, because there is no
escaping this obligation.

We can pretend that we "must" live where we live, or
have the personality, the situation or the opinions that
we do, but that is simply not true. As the Spanish
philosophy, Ortega, observed, "we must choose."

History is filled with examples of those who have built
the life they wanted for themselves. Personally, my most
inspiring example is Helen Keller. Her life amazes me,
and when I become discouraged, or tired, I think of her,
and I am embarrassed. Blind and deaf, she stands as an
enormous example of what is possible.

Unfortunately, we also have far too many examples of those
who gave up, gave in, or just walked away.

Because life is unfair, we all have our problems, our
blind-spots and our limitations, and some of us have
suffered unspeakably at the hands of violent, uncaring
people. Evil happens.

The question is not whether life is hard. Of course it
is! The question is not whether some people have it
easier than us. Of course they do! The question - the
ONLY question - is how we will respond to our present
situation.

I am concerned that we are developing two very popular,
but inappropriate models in our culture. One is the
chance to "win" instant success. Shows like, "Who
Wants to Be A Millionaire", and "Survivor", along with
state lotteries and legalized gambling tell us that work,
effort, responsibility and persistence are no longer
important.

They tell us that luck or "surviving" are the paths to
quick and easy success. Unfortunately, I suspect the
message is both dishonest, and at bottom, destructive.

The other popular model is a sense of helplessness, a
sense of being victimized and powerless. Nothing could
be further from the truth!

Never have more people had more access to education - and
never has education been so important. Never has it been
easier to start your own business, move to any climate or
city on earth, or meet and learn from anyone you choose.
Never have so many people had so much control over their
own lives!

Do you dislike your job? Do you dislike your wardrobe,
your habits, the home in which you live, or the weather
outside your door? Do you wish you had more education or
better health?

All of these things can be changed! No, they can't be
changed over night, and there is no "magic wand" that
will change these things for you. You, however, have the
power to change any of these things.

There are books and tapes and therapists. There are
resources on the Internet and at your place of worship.
There are classes and workshops. There are people who will
coach you, teach you, cheer for you, and show you the way.

I recently had the privilege of working with a woman whose
husband died suddenly at age 44. They had a 4-year old
daughter, and because his business was struggling, he left
my client almost $500,000 in debt. Today, 17 months
later, she is nearly debt-free, has completed her private
pilot's license, and is working to become a commercial
flight instructor.

Yes, she still has problems and challenges, but she also
has a home and friends, a new career, and opportunities
that would never have been possible had she not faced,
responded, and over-come the disaster of her husband's
untimely death.

Each of us must face this question of how we will live our
lives, of how we will use our days and our energy and the
strength of our will. What do you want, and how will you
get it?

"You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change
the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can
change yourself. That is something you have charge of. You
don't have charge of the constellations, but you do have
charge of whether you read, develop new skills, and take new
classes."
