Welcome to ALL! First a small apology about last week's
Issue 63. While I was away there was a miscommunication
causing it to go out to you 5 days early! I will only say
this....I am happy it was not 5 days late.

It's time to get things moving. That is the basis of today's
main article. The guest article is about an oft overlooked
tool - Autoresponders. Of course the author is marketing
their product. Good! I feel that the Web is the best boon to
the Entrepreneur ever created. And their price & product is
as good as many. Of course - Do Your Research! - Before you

Are you still using MS Outlook, Outlook Express or
Netscape Messenger for your e-mail? Why?

Well then how about....Why not? There are two reasons we
don't use them. Maybe they would be your reasons too. First,
about 90% of all computer viruses are spread by Outlook.

Refuse to Participate!

I was having a chat the other day with a friend about what
is going on in the world right now and the subject of the
economy came up. Big surprise, right?

It appears that we are headed for trouble. After all look at
the facts. Before 9-11-01 we were already pointing toward a
recession. Had been for 5-6 years, regardless of the
spin doctors press. It even appears that this could envelope
the whole world in a domino effect. According to some
indicators, during the last two quarters the USA was already
IN a recession.

Could it be that the WTC tragedy is the "Straw that broke
the camel's back?" I guess we'll see.

At some point Scott (my friend) made mention of something he
had heard at a business meeting just the day before. One of
the people present owns a business headquartered in New York
City and had lost a couple of associates at the WTC. He
stated that he simply was not going to be a part of the
coming economic downturn difficulties!

What a bold statement! The attitude of a genuine Winner in
life. It peaked my imagination. Not only that....it brought
back something I had heard about during the black economy in
the 1970's.

I don't have all the details (like the city, etc.) but I do
recall that it was true. This occurred during a time when
everyone from the President on down was preaching 'cut back'
and 'live lean' and 'tighten your belt."

There was a Service Station - this is before they all became
just Gas Stations - whose owner simply decided to not
participate in the kind of thinking that was rampant. When
all the other Stations were laying people off and closing
early to cut corners, he did just the opposite.

This fellow felt that if everyone started thinking & acting
defeated, they would be. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
If defeatism is self-fulfilling, why not the attitude of
Winning?? And he did not just give it lip service, he backed
his belief with ACTION.

They painted the Station with bright new colors. There were
balloons, flags and streamers from every pole possible.
While others cut back, he put on another shift and opened 24
hours a day. The owner's frame of mind proved contagious and
all his employees caught the DESIRE to Make It Work. When
customers arrived they got real SERVICE not just
salesmanship. And they got that service from someone who
enjoyed giving it!

You can probably tell me what happened. Ones man's VISION
backed by ACTION changed the lives of many people. When
other companies closed down that year, and the next, his
business boomed.

At one point the owner was being interviewed by a local
reporter on an ugly, pouring down rainy day. He couldn't
understand why there was an oasis of POSITIVE here. The
owner summed it all up with one comment. "It's all how
you look at things. When other folks see struggle I see
opportunity. Like today. Many complain about this weather,
but I love it. I looked for a reason to, and found it."

The newspaperman didn't see how anyone could like a day such
as this. The businessman, true to form, was PREDICTABLY
POSITVE. "You see, when there are heavy rains all the nails
left by roofers etc. get washed out the gutters and into the
streets. We go a great business in flat tire repair."

What does it take to win? It takes Action brought about by
strong Desire. That empowers you to give some sort of
Service created by your own personal Vision, not pondered on
for ages but Acted upon! Can you truly win in tough times?
If you are Predictively Positive there is only one possible
response - OF COURSE!

So when the TV, radio, Web & papers say recession - JUST SAY
NO. And when your friends talk negative about it all....
why don't you give them a copy of this article and tell them
"You do what you want - but I REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE!

A Day in the Life of an Online Business.
Ways to use autoresponders you never thought of.

Answering your customers questions when they are asked is
the goal of every business owner. Here's how a typical
business day might look for your company when you use
autoresponders a little differently than most businesses do.

5:10am - A customer that ordered 200 t-shirts from your
company four months ago wants a list of your current prices.
You're asleep but your customer gets your current price list
in seconds.

7:00am - A business owner heard about your company and wants
to know if you sell your t-shirts wholesale. You're just
waking up but the business owner gets the information he
wants within seconds.

10:25am - A prospective customer wants to know why she
should buy t-shirts from you and not the shop down the
street. What advantages would using your company give her?
Even though it's coffee break time at most companies she
gets the answer within seconds.

12:30pm - A current customer needs to know what size and
color t-shirts you currently have available in a certain
brand name. When most other companies are "out to lunch" he
gets the information within seconds.

5:05pm - A prospective customer wants to know your shipping
costs for 6,000 t-shirts. Even though it's after 5, he get
the costs in seconds.

9:20pm - A new customer that ordered 100 t-shirts a few days
ago wants to know the status of their order. You're at a
movie but she gets a status update in seconds.

Midnight - The business owner that requested wholesale
information at 7:00am needs to know if you charge extra for
each silkscreen, how much, what paint colors cost extra, are
light shirts less expensive than dark colors, etc. You're
having a snack but he gets his answers to the most commonly
asked questions in seconds.

3:35am - That customer that wanted a current price list
yesterday morning wants to place an order for 600 t-shirts
and needs an order form. They get it within seconds and you
have a good nights sleep.

And all of this is done with e-mail. No need to have access
to the World Wide Web or the Internet.

How?
It's simple. Autoresponders!

An autoresponder is much like a FAX-on-demand where you call
a number and punch in a code on your phones key pad in order
to receive a document, except it's done through e-mail. Many
people refer to an autoresponder as a "24 hour Virtual
Secretary".

Autoresponders are actually simple text files that you put
together with information about your company, price lists,
wholesale information, ordering procedures, order status
updates, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) and answers,
sales letters, order forms and anything else you want your
customers and prospective customers to know immediately. No
need to transfer a call from a receptionist to a sales rep
then to an order clerk and so on.

You assign unique names to each file such as:
ordering@ourlist.net
prices@ourlist.net
FAQ@ourlist.net
wholesale@ourlist.net
etc. You get the idea.

These text files are then loaded onto a host server and when
a customer or prospective customer sends a message to the e-
mail address you have assigned to the autoresponder your
information is immediately, usually within seconds, returned
to the customers e-mail box.

Advantages to autoresponders include:

* Customers can receive your information any time day or
night, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

* Even if your e-mail, computer or local telephone service
is not working you can still provide information to your
customers.

* No need for customers to wait for you to respond to them.
They get the information within seconds.

* Costs for such services are NO where near the cost of a
real secretary. They start as low as $24 a year. That's just
$2.00 a month.

* Have you heard about target marketing? Well, with
autoresponders you get a very targeted mailing list. You
see, when someone requests information from your
autoresponder their e-mail address is captured in a file on
your host server. You have access to these e-mail addresses
and can then send selected and targeted information to your
customers offering specials and new product information to
name a few ideas.

Autoresponders are one of the best choices for online
marketing to your customers and prospective customers
available today and they can cost as little as $1.75 a
